How do you find out if a manufactured home in Nebraska was moved?
In Nebraska, manufactured home titles are issued at county treasurer offices for the Department of Motor Vehicles. A home attached to land has an Affidavit of Affixture on file, and one taken off land has an Affidavit of Detachment.
Where the records are
- Title records. The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles oversees titles, which are issued at county treasurer offices.
- Affixture and detachment. A home made part of the land has an "Affidavit of Affixture" on file. Reversing that takes an "Affidavit of Detachment" filed with the Register of Deeds, which is a clear sign the home left a site.
- Installation. The Public Service Commission's housing program covers how manufactured homes are built, not who sets them, so installation paperwork comes from the installer or a previous owner.
- The home itself. When the paper trail stops, an engineer inspects the home and reports what the installation shows.
