How do you find out if a manufactured home in Arkansas was moved?
In Arkansas, the Department of Finance and Administration's Office of Motor Vehicle handles titles, and the Arkansas Manufactured Home Commission licenses the people who install manufactured homes. Ask each what it holds for the home.
Where the records are
- Title records. The Office of Motor Vehicle, part of the Department of Finance and Administration, administers title records. Ask what the title history shows.
- Installation. The Arkansas Manufactured Home Commission, within the Department of Labor and Licensing, licenses manufacturers, retailers, and installers.
- Cancelled titles. When a home is permanently affixed to land, its title can be cancelled through the Department of Finance and Administration. A cancelled title tells you the home was treated as real estate at some site.
- The home itself. When the paper trail stops, an engineer inspects the home and reports what the installation shows.
